ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, AUGUST 26- Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell holds a narrow lead over Opposition Leader Emmalin Pierre in overall favourability.

Still, a new survey suggests Pierre has the stronger overall public-opinion profile because she attracts considerably less negative sentiment.

The April 17, 2026 political leadership survey, conducted by Labor Statistician and Psephologist Dr. Justine Cleophas Pierre, was based on 4,142 respondents and found that about six in ten Grenadians viewed both leaders favorably.

Mitchell had a slim advantage, with 2,638 favorable responses compared with 2,538 for Pierre.

However, the survey shows a much wider gap when negative opinions are examined. More than a third of respondents viewed Mitchell unfavorably, compared with just over one-fifth for Pierre. The difference was particularly pronounced among respondents who expressed very unfavorable views, with Mitchell attracting more than twice the strong negative sentiment recorded for Pierre.

As the survey analysis puts it, “Mitchell may reasonably be described as slightly more favorably rated but considerably more polarising, whereas Pierre can be described as slightly less favorably rated but substantially less negatively regarded.”

That distinction gives Pierre a stronger net-favourability position. The analysis calculates her net favourability at +39.23, compared with +28.44 for Mitchell.

The survey also found that Mitchell has a slightly larger core of respondents who view him very favorably, suggesting greater enthusiasm among his supporters.

Pierre, meanwhile, appears to have broader acceptability, although a significant number of respondents either declined to give an opinion or said they did not know enough to assess her.ST.
