ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA, NOVEMBER 17TH 2025- Grenada officially gained a new political party Sunday night as the Democratic People’s Movement (DPM) unveiled itself through what some observers called “theatrical magic” at a packed Grenada Trade Centre.

The launch transformed traditional political gatherings with TED Talk-style presentations, real-time audience engagement via QR codes, and a dramatic reveal that plunged the room into darkness before illuminating the party’s name and seven-ray sun symbol representing all parishes, including Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Hundreds filled the venue, while hundreds more watched from outside, including diplomats, trade union leaders, independent senators, and, notably, former New National Party executive members who had defected from their party.

Leader Peter David and key policy committee head Dr. Anthony Bridgeman outlined ambitious policies, including $35,000-$50,000 grants for first-time homebuyers under 35, a National Human Resource Reset, and guaranteed pricing for farmers.

The interactive launch featured live polling, where attendees scanned QR codes to register their concerns, with results displayed instantly: the rising cost of living topped the list, followed by youth employment and housing affordability.

Social media erupted with praise. Media personality Brenda Baptiste wrote: “When it’s good, it’s GOOD! Petes, you did it! It was a GOOD look and a hopeful feeling. Some stellar ideas for national development.”

Dr. Joslyn Peters noted it “represented a different form of politics, emphasizing inclusion and a sense of belonging rather than damaging each other’s reputations.”

Former government minister Kenny Lalsingh observed: “The political landscape is changing, so let’s stop the Bacchanal and be objective-minded!”

Even skeptics acknowledged the impact. Clevoy Depradine commented, “You sense a difference in approach, attire, and attitude last evening. The condescending, cussing, and corrosive behavior was left on the sidewalk.”

Glenda Charles expressed surprise at “the number of long-standing stalwarts of the NNP proudly supporting and rallying with him.”

Not all reactions were positive, with NollyAnn Brathwaite dismissing it as temporary: “They know movement not going in power!”

DPM already features a theme song and maintains momentum as David appears on GBN’s ‘Beyond the Headlines’ Monday night, before the campaign heads to the diaspora with public meetings planned for Toronto and New York this weekend.
