ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada January 24- Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell is facing growing scrutiny over an unannounced trip to Dubai, raising transparency concerns about his travel itinerary amid criticism of excessive overseas engagements. 

The Prime Minister concluded an official visit to China on January 17, 2025, and was expected to attend a Citizenship by Investment (CBI) conference at Wilton Park, London, from January 20-22, before returning to Grenada.  

However, his attendance in London remains unverified, with sources revealing his presence in Dubai for a Heng Sheng Group event on January 18. 

Members of his delegation, including the Press Secretary and Executive Secretary, reportedly traveled directly from China to London, while the Prime Minister’s detour to Dubai was not disclosed to the public.  

The Grenada Government has not clarified his location between January 17 and 20. 

This lack of transparency follows a pattern of incomplete travel disclosures.  

Questions are also being raised about why the Prime Minister’s visit to Dubai, where he was photographed meeting private stakeholders, was not officially communicated. 

Critics highlight that the Prime Minister has spent only three days in Grenada since the beginning of 2025.  

Concerns are mounting over the perceived lack of accountability regarding state-funded trips, with many demanding clearer details on the purpose and outcomes of these travels. 

Journalists have pointed out discrepancies in government statements, including conflicting timelines of the Prime Minister’s movements.  

“Taxpayers have a right to know how their money is spent. Transparency in government travel is essential for public trust,” one journalist remarked.
