St. George’s, Grenada, December 26, 2024 – The Government of Grenada and Monroe University have agreed to provide scholarships to 150 first-generation Grenadian students over the next three years.

The partnership, announced on December 24, 2024, aligns with the Grenadian government’s goal of having a university graduate in every household.

The program will begin in January 2025, with the first cohort of 50 students, followed by additional cohorts in late 2025 or early 2026 and 2026 or early 2027.

“This scholarship program is testimony to Monroe University’s commitment to allowing Grenadian students to pursue higher education,” said Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell at the signing ceremony.

The agreement comes at a crucial time when access to higher education remains a significant challenge for many Grenadian families.

“We are honored to partner with the Government of Grenada to invest in the scholarships and people of Grenada,” said Monroe University President Marc Jerome.

The program will begin accepting applications immediately for qualifying students, with the first cohort scheduled to commence their studies in January 2025.

Munroe University is based in the United States, with a campus in St. Lucia.
