ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, NOVEMBER 9TH – D’Movement has unveiled comprehensive measures to address the critical failures plaguing Grenada’s health sector, with Policy Committee Head Dr. Anthony Bridgeman declaring that successive administrations have failed to resolve the mounting crisis.

Speaking during an interview on GBN ahead of D’Movement’s highly anticipated launch on Sunday, November 16th at the Trade Center, Dr. Bridgeman outlined urgent interventions developed by medical professionals and public health advocates who “really dissected our current health policy and created some essential pieces.”

“We’ve seen too many situations where people are going into a hospital and dying for nothing,” Dr. Bridgeman stated bluntly, emphasizing the need for immediate action rather than waiting for long-term projects.

Among the key proposals, D’Movement plans to properly staff mobile clinics in rural areas with qualified medical doctors and necessary equipment.

D’Movement also aims to revolutionize emergency room procedures by deploying nursing assistants and LPNs to assess patients upon arrival, reducing excessive waiting times by differentiating “high need and higher priorities.”
“Why can’t we have nursing assistants or LPNs who can assess the situation while they’re there?” Dr. Bridgeman questioned, highlighting the dysfunction in current emergency protocols.

The health plan includes introducing telemedicine, implementing inclusive health plans for persons with disabilities—a population Dr. Bridgeman notes “we don’t do well with”—and establishing robust mental health support beyond token observances in October.

“This is close to my heart with lots of focus on mental health. Sometimes we mention it when October comes because it’s Mental Health Month,” he said.

While the current administration has announced plans for a new state-of-the-art hospital, that project remains years away from completion.

Dr. Bridgeman emphasized that Grenadians need solutions now, asserting that “any government that gets the health situation in Grenada together, they will score a lot of points.”
